Operational Risk Specialist (Contract)

Location: Basel Country: Switzerland
 
On behalf of our trusted client, a global banking institution based in Basel, Swisslinx is looking for an Operational Risk Specialist to join an ongoing risk strategy and framework implementation project. In this intriguing role you would support the development and execution of effective and efficient operational risk management across the 3 lines of defense.

This would be a temporary position for 6 months with the possibility of a subsequent extension.

Your Role:

This is a highly versatile role which covers 3 main aspects related to operational risk: Risk Operations, Risk Coordination as well as support the Operational Transformation and Resiliency unit.

Risk Operations:
- Take an active part in operational risk framework, which includes development of risk policies, operational risk methodologies, risk monitoring and reporting.
- Contribute to the development of the ORM tool to improve risk identification, assessment and monitoring capabilities, as well as expanded application.
- Support on operational risk methods analysis and reporting, including key risk indicators, operational risk incidents, risk and control assessments.
- Collaborate with first lines and second lines to promote active operational risk management practices. Advance bank-wide communications and training regarding operational risk to foster a risk-aware culture across the bank.

Risk Coordination:
- Support model validation efforts, by coordinating with Banking, Finance and Risk Management departments.
- Managing the contract with the external validators and following up on recommendations.
- Coordinate the insurance programme of the Bank. Act as contact for insurance policy owners and the external insurance broker.
- Coordinate the testing of internal controls over external financial reporting (ICF).

Operational Transformation and Resiliency (OTR):
- Contribute to organisation of Operational Risk Working Group and Executive Committee meetings, including drafting agenda, material development and minuting.
- Maintain OTR SharePoint site Structure
- Facilitate on boarding programmes for OTR newcomers

Your Profile:
- Min. 1 year experience in a risk environment within the banking industry.
- Experience in coordinating projects (planning/initiating tasks, coordinating meetings, following up on deliverables, finalizing the tasks).
- Excellent drafting and communication skills in English for both written documents and oral presentations.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively across varied professional groups including senior management.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative team-building skills, strong multicultural, inclusion and diversity sensitivity. Proven experience curating diverse perspectives.
- Familiarity with central banking or commercial banking trading activities a plus.
